Why "Brot und Wasser"?

In preparation for our work in Germany we study German through a computer program called Rosetta Stone.  The program uses repetition, picture clues, and lots of verbalization to teach correct vocabulary and usage.  Both of us enjoy the opportunity to be stretched.  One of the early phrases accompanied by a photo is "Brot und Wasser"-bread and water.

I love that phrase and photo because it reminds me of Christ.  In John 6:35 "Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.'"  In John 7:37, "Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink."  Jesus provides for all of our needs and never ceases.

We go to Germany in Jesus' name.  Our passion is to serve and honor Him.  My intention with this blog is the same.  Brot und Wasser reminds me that He is all I need.

  1. Bread and water- what a wonderful thought. The verse you share is one of my favorites. We are so far from the days of just desiring our needs, and instead our wants. God bless you and Smitty in the things you are doing
