Today Smitty rebuilt our tandem which we had shipped to Germany.  We had the opportunity, just before lunch, to test it and have a short ride into the country.  One mile from our apartment, we were in farm lands.  What an awesome ride.  We rode just ten miles, but the time on the bike was worth all that we went through to get the tandem here; we saw our surroundings in a fresh way.  Now we can plan trips to other towns.  

As we arrived back in Kandern the local fire department was hosting a group of boys.  We enjoyed watching the boys riding up on the ladder.  The boys playing in the puddles gave us a laugh, too!

Later, Smitty joined the celebration, complete with speeches and upah band, for the renovation of a steam engine for the town train.   A good way to spend a Saturday!
