Our kitchen window opens like a door or from the top out. |
Windows open out, but also can be opened from the top.
Bathroom stalls have door knobs and locks which are separate, but regular doors don't have knobs at all, just locks.
Our school has separate bathrooms for boys and girls but one "staff" restroom with two stalls-one labeled "Herren" (men) and one labeled "Damen" (women).
'H' for 'Herren', 'D' for 'Dammen' |
People park their cars on the sidewalk, but sometimes in the street. The streets in town are so narrow, that a parked car makes the street a single lane. I have to watch when I drive because if the blockage is on my side of the street, I am required to wait for on-coming traffic before I proceed.
No one drives SUVs. I have seen a couple of Hyundai Santa Fes, but they are the largest car around.
When I drive on the highway from Kandern to school at Wollbach people come up behind me doing 90 K/Hour (the limit is 80) and tailgate. They don't get anxious or nasty, just pass me as soon as they can.
The school bus that takes our students to and from school looks just like the regular inter-city bus, but the sign says "Schulbus".
The post office is also a bank, stationery store, and dry cleaners. If I want postage, there are two counters. If I want anything else, there is a third counter.
The people in the post office are very friendly and helpful!
Folks here love their dogs. They often walk them without a lease and take them almost everywhere. I've seen many different pure-breds, but no mixed breeds. Most dogs are well-behaved, and very seldom do I hear barking.
Not wrong, just different.
