Some Week

Whew, this week has found its end.  Since last Friday I have been overwhelmed physically and emotionally.

A week ago school started off with chapel performed by a group of Korean third through sixth graders.  They sang, danced, mimed, and performed Tae Kwon Do.  A blessing for the eyes and the soul.

Once in the classroom I rushed through the last of chemistry final review.  After seventh period I dashed downstairs to help with the annual BFCF book exchange.   When Smitty arrived we bought dinner at BFA, contributed to the junior class fundraiser and went home.  I was in bed early.

After a busy weekend of connecting across continents, I returned to school and finals week.  Monday I proctored a German test.  In the evening we subbed at Liel.  Tuesday Smitty and I ran some errands, one in Basel and one north of Mullheim.  Wednesday all science classes took their finals so I was "on call" to answer questions and collect the tests.  I learned how to grade the scantron portion before I left for home.  Every free moment since has been spent grading the written portion and final projects.

Thursday BFA started the new semester with all classes scheduled for new periods.  Thursday night we hosted a dorm couple for dinner and this past Friday I continued in the lessons on naming molecular compounds.  This week has been more busy than normal.

The emotions of this week have been the more pressing issue.  Low clouds, cold air, and dreary days have been the norm for over a week.  I have felt tired and humorless.  We have resumed our morning walks, but ennui continues.  Fasching, the season of pre-lenten revelry, also contributes to the sense of melancholy.

Thankfully, the sun came out this weekend.  I have spent as much time as possible outside.  And now I am feeling more refreshed and renewed.  Praise God for the sun!
