Answers to the Market Quiz

Did you guess that I took a salad to the potluck?  I made it with the following ingredients:

Paparika gelb---yellow bell pepper

gewurze - Pfefferkorner schwarz---(spice) black pepper corns Pflanzenol---vegetable oil

Apfel-Essig---apple vinegar

Kase---cheese

Gurke---cucumber

Zwiebel---onion

Tomate---tomato

Nuss---nuts (pecans)

Zucchini---you know!

Eir---egg

Kopfsalat---lettuce

We stopped at the Metzgerei to purchase brotwurst to put on the grill.  

I am surprised that even though I feel frustration when someone tries to speak to me in German and I don't understand, I do have lots of clues that I can use to understand the culture and language around me.  Smitty and I will be decorating our apartment with 3x5 cards labeling items in German in the next few days.  I'll post some of those when it happens.
