One thing we miss in Germany is the traditional American Thanksgiving. Four day weekend, family, and football. Yet, on the other hand, we have celebrated with turkey and friends both years we have lived in Kandern. This year we will celebrate twice, once tonight at Liel Dorm and once next week.
We joined the fun at Liel around 5 for hors d'oeuvres and hot spiced cider. At 6 pm the turkey and gravy arrived. The food company which makes week night dinners provides the turkey. Michelle, house mom, and Tara, the RA had spent the day preparing the cranberry sauce, potatoes and other side dishes. After the blessing about 20 of us lined up to fill our plates and enjoy each other's company.
Between dinner and the pie, Troy, the house dad, asked everyone to share something for which they were thankful. I was touched by the girls' outspoken gratefulness for parents, siblings, dorm parents and RA, dorm sisters, and their school, BFA.
I will treasure those heartfelt words of the girls. I am so blessed to be here, serving them, reflecting God's grace. My thankful heart is overflowing.
