What do the Eiffel Tower and a set of measuring cups have in
common?
I pondered this question as we returned from a weekend in
Paris with some good friends.
The Tower started as a temporary part of an exhibition in the late
1800’s, but was so loved the city left it to become the symbol of Paris, maybe
even of France. We wandered around
the Tower that weekend, looking up and being amazed at the size, the elegance,
and the nighttime twinkly lights.

Our relationship with our friends is a bit like the Eiffel
Tower. We became acquaintances
quite by accident; just in passing on a tour we all took. Yet our friendship grew and
become an encouragement to each of us.
We certainly cannot claim worldwide fame, but the four of us consider
time together very special.
What do the Eiffel Tower and a set of measuring cups have in common? Not much to the casual observer. But to me, they are reminders of a friendship which started without intention and has become a lasting relationship, measured by mutual understanding and respect.
I still think it's amazing that we've only known each other four years, but our bond is so strong it's as though we've known each other longer. You are such special people - and we can hardly wait 'til our next get-together.
